Are you overwhelmed, stressed out, and unhappy? Does it feel like no matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to feel Okay? Are you struggling with feeling sad and anxious all the time? Do you find yourself constantly worried about the future and planning for problems that have not happened yet? Are you unable to stop thinking about the past, replaying old events over and over again?
Anxiety can be physically debilitating, making even the simplest of tasks, like getting out of bed for the day, seem daunting. Excessive worry can often affect your body, reducing appetite, sleep and ability to concentrate. Perhaps you feel sick to your stomach or pressure in your chest that just will not go away. Maybe your thoughts seem to cycle through the same old patterns with no relief or end in sight?
You Are Not Alone.
Anxiety is a part of life. Experts estimate that nearly 20% of adults had an Anxiety Disorder in the past year and approximately 30% of adults will experience an Anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. Research also shows that adolescent anxiety rates are slightly higher and that 31% will experience a disorder related to anxiety sometime in their teen years.
Sometimes we can identify where our worry comes from. Having a high-stress job, experiencing challenges in relationships, struggling to raise children and dealing with financial problems are but a small sample of the circumstances that can bring on anxiety. Other times anxiety can arise from nowhere and be harder to pin down. It can take many different forms including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, and Panic Disorders, among others.
Your anxiety does not define who you are.
Everyone experiences some variation of anxiety or anxious symptoms. Many people can manage their symptoms without help. Many people need help but never seek it out, suffering needlessly for years. Perhaps you have managed your anxiety up until now, but if you are reading this page then you are likely looking for help.
